28 October – new supermarket ‘unpackaged’ in Berlin

There is a news article today (in German) in the Frankfurter Allgemeine It follows the story of two women, Sara Wolf and Milena Glimbovski, who raised 100,000 Euros on crowdsourcing to open “Original Unverpackt“ – Original Unpackaged – in a trendy sector of Berlin. All of the 350 products on offer come ‘loose’ – meaning customers bring their own containers to take the food home (or for spontaneous shopping can obtain containers from the store). The owners believe this is the new way to shop without generating wasteful packaging.

You can also watch a film about it here (with English subtitles)
